Debates on the positive effects of coconut oil on health

For many years, coco oil has been considered as one of the most harmful oils there are in the market.  Until today, the more popular researches would show that oil from the coconut fruit should not be used.  This is because coconut oil is a saturated fat and generally, these fats are known to raise blood cholesterol levels in the body.

What the majority of the public do not know is that the saturated fats in the edible coconut oil are medium chain fatty acids or medium chain triglycerides (MCTs).

Coconut and palm oils are the best natural sources of medium and short chain fatty acids which provide beneficial effects in our body.  These are facts that only a few researchers would choose to recognize.

What are medium chain triglycerides or MCTs?

MCTs are kinds of fats that promote thermogenesis.  Thermogenesis is the process of generating heat and energy for the body by boosting the metabolic rate of an individual.  A more improved metabolism could result to better systemic functions.

Effects of good digestion:

1. More soluble fats do not get clogged in the blood vessels and arteries that might disrupt the pumping of blood and lead to heart problems.

2. A better digestion would encourage more efficient hormone secretion.  That is why, it could regulate too much excretion of sebum on your face – one way in preventing acne eruptions, improves insulin production, and helps develop productivity of thyroid for hypothyroid patients.

3. Enhanced metabolic process will make you lose weight and the food that you eat will be converted into nutrients and energy useful for more functional cells.

4. An efficient digestive system influences the neurotransmitters that pass nerve impulses to the brain and back to other body parts.  This results to developed mental performance.
